Getting into electrics
Description
This is a course designed for those who would like to pursue a career in electrics but who have little or no understanding of basic electrical principles. The course will take you to a point whereby your knowledge will be sufficient to undertake further training such as 17th edition wiring regulations. We also include Portable Appliance testing on this course on day 5.

2377 Portable Appliance Testing
Description
Portable appliance testing involves the issuing of electrical safety certificates for commonly used items in the workplace. This includes items such as computers, kettles, monitors, portable air-conditioning units and other such equipment.
Under the Electricity at Work Act employers, landlords, hoteliers and anyone else who provides portable electrical appliances for use by others have a legal obligation to ensure that such items are safe to use.
Successful completion of this course will enable you, with the right equipment, to carry out this annual testing and offer this service as part of the scope of your work.
Who is the course for?
This course will suit anyone directly involved in the undertaking of portable appliance testing.
Entry Requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements, however, some basic electrical knowledge is expected.

17th Edition Wiring Regulations
Description
The IEE wiring regulations are referred to in the EAW regulations as a method of complying with BS 7671:2008, the IEE wiring regulations against which all electrical installations must comply.
Who is it for?
The course is designed for electricians who will have to comply with BS 7671. It is the basic required qualification for anyone involved in installing and testing domestic, industrial and commercial electrical installations.
Entry requirements.
For the full course, some basic electrical knowledge is required although completion of out 4 day basic electrical course will help you to get your head around some of the concepts a little easier and we would recommend all persons to give serious consideration to completing that course prior to attending the 17th edition course. To take the shortened course , candidates must present a copy of their 16th edition qualification achieved during or after 2004.

4/5 days and includes a 2 hour multiple choice examinations which is carried out in our on site IT centre. The update course lasts 2 days including the examination. The exam is an open book examinations so candidates can reference the wiring regulations book during the exam.

17th Edition Practical Course (Extension)
Description
An optional 5 day extension to the 17th edition course which is purely practical and designed to give those intending to pursue a career as an electrician a feel for life in the real work as an electrician. You will be working as part of a team to complete a full electrical installation in our specially designed training facility in a set period of time in line with IEE wiring regulations. The course is designed to be as true to real life as we can possibly make it and will include routing of cables, first and second fixing and dead testing of the installation.
Who is it for.
Persons who have completed Part P and 17th edition courses and are looking to get a feel for what life is like on the streets as a domestic electrical installer.
Course content.
Role-play scenario including installations into a lounge, bathroom and kitchen.
Basic dead testing and inspection.

Part P Scheme – VRQ for domestic installers.
Description.
The purpose of this course is for successful candidates to be able to apply (or upgrade to) membership of a Part P Full Scope Competent persons scheme.
Part P of the Building Regulations (2005) requires that a significant proportion of all electrical work carried out in dwellings in England & Wales must be notified to the local building control department and a certificate of compliance issued to the householder. Electrical operatives who are not members of a Part P Competent Persons Scheme must notify the local Building Control directly in the event of any planned work, they will then send out an inspector to inspect, test and certify an installation. Becoming a member of a Competent Persons Scheme allows the operative to self-certify their work and the scheme provider will notify the relevant Building Control Department on your behalf.
Who is it for.
The course is designed for electricians and installers who carry out any domestic installation work in premises, for example the installation of a new ring main or replacement of a consumer unit.
Entry Requirements.
Candidates must have previous electrical experience and it is recommended that you have at least completed 17th Edition wiring regulations before attending this course.

2391 Inspection & Testing.
Description
The purpose of this course is to provide practicing electricians with the ability to fully inspect and test new installations and periodically inspect and attest existing installations in line with legal requirements. Candidates will be required to completed a 2 ½ hour practical examination on site and then take a written examination sat nationally at a future point in the year.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for those who have completed their 17th edition wiring regulations and are looking to expand their portfolio to allow them to complete inspection and testing work.
Entry requirements
A copy of your 17th edition wiring regulations certificate will be required at the start of the course.

Solar Energy Training
Course Objective
The course provides the knowledge on how to install a solar PV system and takes into consideration the majority of systems installed in the UK investigating the different system configurations, components and operating characteristics.
